Limited edition Hermès Leica M9-P is a fine thing of beauty

Leica M9-P Hermes Limited Edition leather camera

Never put it past Leica to make beautiful cameras with luxury aesthetics, now complete with a collaboration with French high fashion brand Hermès. If you thought the Leica we saw in March was amazing, the new limited “Edition Hermès” Leica M9-P adds a classic leather touch to your digital accessory.

The premium touch on this Hermès Leica M9-P rangefinder highlights the “Veau Swift” calfskin in ocre leather trim that was supplied by the Parisian fashion designer. You can also find the same fine leather in the straps so carrying the 18 megapixel Leica M9-P feels like carrying a beautiful purse. The body is finished in silver chrome, with the lens also anodized in silver. Of course, a metal protective lens cap comes with the set.

You’ll also notice the the frame selector lever, the accessory shoe and, the Leica script are missing to make the camera stand out more as the unique Hermès version.

While the Leica M9-P in white leather we saw in March was limited to 50 cameras, the company will make 300 of the Edition Hermès, available for sale for the price tag of $25,000.

Leica M9-P Hermes Jean-Louis Dumas edition setAn even more exclusive sub-section of Edition Hermès also includes the “Série Limitée Jean-Louis Dumas,” giving a nod the former president of Hermès, Jean-Louis Dumas. There will be only 100 sets of the second version sold worldwide, and it comes with three lenses and a leather carrying case. If you’re a fan of the fashion brand, you’ll also be happy to know the Jean-Louis Dumas edition is completed with a photo book with 200 of his black and white photographs shot with the Leica M. This set is slated for a July release and can be yours for $50,000. Unfortunately for that price sticker, the signature Hermès scarf does not come with.

Unlike the all-white Leica M9-P, which was sold only in its Japan location, the Hermès Leica will be available in exclusive Leica retailers including the flagship store in Washington, DC. If you’ve got several grands to burn for a truly fashionable piece of equipment, it’s time to start lining up.
