New Nest CEO Marwan Fawaz tells his employees that Nest is not for sale

Make no mistake, smart home fans, Nest is not for sale. That was the message Nest CEO Marwan Fawaz drove home in an email to company employees earlier this week, in which he wrote, “Nest is not for sale, and scaling and innovation aren’t mutually exclusive.” Much of the speculation regarding Nest’s future appears to stem from co-founder Tony Fadell’s announcement of his departure, which sent tongues wagging about whether or not Alphabet was planning on parting ways with Nest soon as well. According to Fawaz, the answer is a resounding no.

The Verge obtained the memo Fawaz sent to employees, in which the new CEO applauded the “collective passion and sense of mission” of the Nest team. And while Fawaz nodded at the inevitable growing pains that come with a change in leadership, he stressed that the future of the company ought to be bright.

“I mentioned on Friday that my skills and passion are around scaling great companies — and products — to reach more customers,” Fawaz wrote. “It’s what I like to think about and what I like to deliver. My only agenda for Nest is to scale and grow with innovative products. Nest is not for sale, and scaling and innovation aren’t mutually exclusive.”

While Nest has always maintained a high level of quality for its smart home products, including its thermostat, smoke detector, and camera, it’s no secret that its revenue figures aren’t exactly what Alphabet might’ve hoped for when it acquired the company a couple years ago. But Fawaz seems ready to rise to that challenge, telling his new team, “I’m counting on each one of you to help maintain our culture of disruption, the source of the Nest magic. This culture is how we’ll continue to lead in the connected home space, continue to attract the best talent around, and help save even more energy and lives.”

In conclusion, the new CEO wrote, “We need to focus on delivering the great road map we have in place … This is how we’ll reset the narrative about Nest, reminding our customers, partners, and competitors of how we became the #1 connected home brand in the first place.” Emphasizing that there is no “change in strategy or direction,” Fawaz said, “Nest understands design, customer needs, and the importance of home. I know you will all work hard in the coming weeks to ensure we continue to surprise and delight our customers and I’m very excited to be a part of it.”

The Google Home Speaker is impressive, until you look at the power cable

The Google Home Speaker hasn't even started shipping yet, but one lucky buyer managed to grab one early and share their first impressions. While most of the news is positive, there's one detail that won't sit well with anyone who cares about repairability.

For the unaware, Google announced the speaker back in October 2025, and pre-orders went live last week. Priced at $99, it's the company's first new speaker in six years, so people have plenty of questions.

Google Pixel 10 vs Pixel 10 Pro

Some Prime Day deals feel like discounts in name only, but after digging through this year's sale, I found a few Google deals that are genuinely worth your attention. Several Pixel 10 models are seeing triple-digit price cuts, the Pixel 10 Pro Fold is at its lowest price yet, and a few Nest products are available at prices that are actually hard to ignore. Whether you're looking for a new smartphone, smartwatch, streaming device, or smart home upgrade, these are the Google deals I'd recommend before Prime Day wraps up on June 26.

This Prime Day, Sylvox Is Offering Up To 28% Off Its Frameless Outdoor TVs
Sylvox's Prime Day sale offers discounts of up to 28% across its outdoor TV lineup, including the Frameless Series, Deck Pro 3.0, and Cinema Series.

Prime Day is often associated with upgrading devices inside the home, but some of the most interesting deals this year are focused on the spaces outside it. From June 23 to June 26, Sylvox is offering discounts of up to 28% on its Frameless Series Outdoor TVs, bringing down the cost of a category that has become increasingly relevant as homeowners invest more in their outdoor living spaces.

The timing reflects a broader shift in how backyards, patios, and decks are being used. What were once occasional gathering spots are increasingly functioning as extensions of the home, doubling up as entertainment areas, outdoor dining spaces, and even wellness zones. As these spaces evolve, homeowners are paying closer attention to the products they bring into them—not just in terms of performance, but also how they fit into the overall design.
