Looking for your IP address? We'll give you some simple steps to help you find your computer's IP address.
Can’t find your IP address? Let us help you. An Internet Protocol (IP) address is a numerical label assigned to technical devices involved in a computer network that utilizes Internet Protocol as a source of communication. An IP address serves as a network interface identification code and as a location address. IP addresses are usually stored as binary numbers, but are usually displayed in human-readable notations like 208.77.188.166. It is a very simple process, regardless of whether you’re toting a Mac or PC. Check out how to find your IP address for either your Mac or PC.
PC (Windows XP/Vista/7)
Open Start Menu. First open your “Start” menu which should be located in the lower left corner of your desktop. Click the Windows logo to open the Start menu, and find the “All Programs” option and click it.
Access Accessories. From “All Programs,” go to “Accessories” and then click the option “Command Prompt.”
Find IP. A black box will appear. Type in “ipconfig” and press enter. The box will reappear or refresh, and display your IP address—other information may appear like your DNS address and more.
