As an Australian, I am dead pissed with this bloody incompetence. Because of this, Internet speeds will be reduced to a crawl, and torrents and other P2P measures of piracy will still be very active in use.

Of course, the most popular of torrent sites will be blocked. But a simple SOCKS proxy should get around that.

In conclusion, if any Australian really wanted to get his/her fill of "illegal content", then it would happen.

As a matter of fact, another reason for this filter is because no-one downloaded the NetAlert filter last year. Less than 33% of Australians took the filter into account, and, as listed in the article, it was hacked by a simple 16 year old.
A whole team of 45+year olds (who where being paid, by the way) could not make a filter to match the computing prowess of a 16 year old.
