Ontario's Lakehead University president Fred Gilbert says he won't expand the school's Wi-Fi network because of health concerns regarding electromagnetic fields.

The president of Ontario’s Lakehead University has made a personal policy decision not to expand the school’s limited Wi-Fi offerings, citing concerns about the health effects of magnetic fields. According to a transcript of remarks at an open meeting in November 2005, university president Fred Gilbert stated:

“The decision is mine, and it was made on the basis that the jury is still out on the impact that electromagnetic forces have on human physiology. Some studies have indicated that there are links to carcinogenetic occurrences in animals
