French MPs Vote to Open Digital Music
The French parliament has backed a plan which would require Apple, Microsoft, Sony, and others to make their digital music work on any player.
By a vote of 296 to 193, the French parliament today voted in favor of a draft law which says that proprietary digital-rights managements systems must not block interoperability between different systems.
In real world terms, if the French bill becomes law, companies like Apple, Sony, and Microsoft may be forced to open their DRM systems
