It’s A Boy, With Thanks To YouTube

A man delivers his baby son at home, after Googling the subject and watching videos on YouTube to see how it's done.

It might be the first YouTube baby. Engineer Marc Stephens from Cornwall, England, delivered the baby boy his wife has been carrying after she went heavily into labor, and before an ambulance could arrive to take her to hospital.

According to the mother, Jo Stephens, the couple had planned a home birth for their fourth child, but not quite so dramatically.

"I woke up and realized I was having contractions every five minutes," she told the BBC.

"I woke Marc up and we phoned the midwife, but they were all so busy they couldn’t come round to our house and told us to call an ambulance. But before it arrived, it all started."

But Mr. Stephens was prepared for the eventuality. Some hours before, he’d "Googled how to deliver a baby, watched a few videos and basically swotted up," he explained.

"The videos gave me peace of mind. I think I would have coped, but watching videos made things much easier."

"This is our fourth child now and while for our first I spent most of the time at my wife’s head, now I’m not afraid to go down to the business end.

"I was still on the phone to the midwife and told her that ‘this is it’,"

The 5lb. 5 oz. boy, named Gabriel, and his mother both went to hospital after, but were completely fine.
