UK Mulls Anti-Piracy Plans
According to the Guardian, the British Department for Business, Enterprise and Regulatory Reform (Berr) is considering several plans to crack down on Internet piracy.
The current favorite seems to be one that makes ISPs legally responsible for content illegally downloaded by their customers. However, in exchange for that responsibility, the ISPs would receive a small payment for every music track or movie that’s legally downloaded – a potential goldmine.
Submitted by consultancy Ingenious Media, the carrot-and-stick approach seems to be front runner among many suggestions, although more will be revealed when Berr publishes its piracy recommendations next month.
