Yahoo Expecting More Layoffs

Yahoo Expecting More Layoffs

As Yahoo undertakes more cost-cutting, rumors are flying that the company will experience a second round of layoffs.

The Wall Street Journal has reported that among other cost-cutting moves, Yahoo might well experience another round of layoffs. No numbers have been given, but managers have been asked to trim costs by 15%.

In January around 1,100 people were laid off from the company. Yahoo certainly wouldn’t be the only tech company to look to layoffs as a way to trim expenses. Currently its stock is low – also true of a number of other companies – down to $12.90 as of last Friday, according to CNET.

All of which might have employees thinking ruefully of that Microsoft offer from a few months ago; $47.5 billion would go a long way.

    http://www.linkedin.com (networking for professionals)
    http://www.indeed.com (aggregated listings)
http://www.realmatch.com (jobs matched to your skills)

These folks will find new jobs...maybe better ones!
  3. Jim Campbell at 6:49am 21st October 2008 We talk about job cuts and downsizing as if it ends there. After the layoff the real problems present themselves. Marriages often crumble, difficulty raising children financially and mentally occurs and the stress involved has taken many lives. If we feel the effects of this it's often because we don't allow ourselves to consider alternatives such as self employment. I'd been downsized twice in a five year period for business reasons not associated with performance. As a result I asked for a better alternative and attracted a website and the rest is history. Take a look. It may be what you're asking for too. www.LikeSoup.com
