My wife got the OnStage III for me for Christmas. It has excellent sound, the new version runs on 6 AA batteries or on AC power. It plays my podcasts as well as the various genres of music I listen to much better than the other systems that I have looked at and it’s cheaper. There is an accompanying mini connector for iPod Shuffle as well as other media devices. It’s small footprint fits well on my desk.

My only complain is the size of the plug for the power adapter. I have it connected to a surge protector with 4 ports per side and this adapter covers up two of them.

Overall, I would recommend you listen to it and make your own decisions. I think you’ll be happy with its performance.

I know JBL from my early years of big stereo speakers…great then, still great…bought this iPod speaker system for my daughter’s boyfriend who plays guitar and drums and only had headphones to listen to his iPod. He loves this OnStage. He says the sound is really good for such a small device. Compact, easy to use, mobile.
