Its as plain as muck that the reviewer hasnt actually used one of these. I got a gift of one and I would like to correct the reviewer on the following points:
1) It DOES have a volume control on the front
2) Sound is excellent when you change the bass and treble settings to suit the music
3) There IS auto-scan functionality on the box. You just hold the forward/backward button down for 2 secs
4) I have an iPhone, iPod and iPod Nano....they ALL fit in the dock at the top

The first review by James....It DOES have a volume control on the speakers itself. The biuld quality is good and yes, it looks great, with the nice feature of I display behind the casing od the speakers. The sound is not the best out of the box but when you fiddle around with some settings its ok....but it sounds best when you are sitting directly in front of it..

Good speakers all round

I got one of these recently and returned it. The sound was bad and there is no volume control on the device itself.

I tried out the X2 after my old system gave up. I was listening to it in my kitchen and the sound was really shallow. I moved it to the bedroom hoping that it was just the accoustics of the kitchen but unfortunately it wasnt. I liked the look of the system, but after playing some James Taylor, Soundgarden and AbbA (yes, I listen to a wide variety), I realized it wasnt the location, it was the speaker quality. I brought it back and picked up a JVC system instead.
