Summary

Die-hard laptop users should look into acquiring one of these.  It beats hunting and pecking at the number line at the top of your laptop’s keyboard.  The TK-323 is priced somewhat on the high side, and in assessing the keypad, it is important to remember it is not a keyboard, nor is it an MP3 player or any other kind of combo device.  It is simply a keypad, nothing more and nothing less.  It gets the job done.

Introduction

Here’s an unusual product.  Zippy has created a slim 10-key pad (actually has 18 keys) as an add-on to notebooks and desktop keyboards that lack a numerical keypad.  Although not a technological breakthrough of great magnitude, this is a practical device with definite benefits for its users.  The keypad sports a USB interface and even has a one-port hub to allow you to still add other devices if needed, especially if you are limited in the available ports at your disposal (like in the case of a laptop). With no drivers required, it allows you to connect it and then daisy chain your mouse off of it.  A very handy feature, indeed.

Features

The keypad also sports an adjustable foot, which slides at the top to provide a comfortable tilt to the keypad.  Regular use of the keypad revealed that the keys are somewhat on the small side. This could make it difficult for users with big hands to accurately tabulate and calculate functions on the keypad.  However, users with small hands will likely find it very comfortable.  The main keys are made of a light gray plastic which almost matches the metallic silver colored body, while the bluish purple function keys stand out and make it easier in use.

Conclusion

The keypad performed flawlessly whether plugged in prior to turning on the computer or added to a computer already in use. While most keyboards in the desktop realm have an incorporated numerical keypad, there are a few that don’t and this would be a great compliment.
