Sorry just realised my review is for the xe500c21 as well
This is really worrying, I am on line searching for a way to repair my chromebook and I’ve just seen your reviews…. this is a strange coincidence. I think there is a real fault with this machine and the power jack point. I think we should contact Samsung together and insist they repair. I was told by customer services that there is no known fault! – but obviously this is not true. I intend to contact them asap and I suggest we report this! DO NOT BUY!!
I totally agree, I’m in the same situation. This flimsy piece of plastic is holding in the jack. It is difficult to get the laptop to charge and then when you pull out the charger the whole unit comes with it. It is only held in by 1mm of plastic: of course it is going to break. Mine is the xe500c21 – A01 uk and I know lots of work colleagues are having the same problem, either with the chromebook not charging or having this piece of plastic broken and Samsung won’t help even though the units are 6 months old!! – this is not normal use! – they should be a little bit more robust. I wouldn’t buy if you are thinking of buying this. Look at all the review sites and they all say there is a problem with the charging point, they are difficult to charge or easily broken. BUYER BEWARE!!!
