2011 Dodge Charger Police Car Unveiled

The first picture of Chrysler’s 2011 Dodge Charger Pursuit police car was released today.

Chrysler announced today that it will begin taking orders for its new 2011 Dodge Charger Pursuit police vehicle. It will be based on the all-new 2011 Charger with real-wheel drive and the option of a standard E-85 capable 3.6-liter Pentastar V6 engine, or a 5.7-liter HEMI V-8 engine. The Police package will also include heavy-duty brakes, 18-inch wheels, performance tires, special suspension tuning, front and rear stabilizer bars along with many other features exclusive to the Pursuit models. Even though only one picture has been released, we think it’s safe to say that these should cut down on attempted getaways.

So its almost the same thing, the Mercury and Lincoln models I believe is different engine options. I hear a lot of people switching over to the charger but alot of Chevys too. I love the charger, and I love the PPV, so we will see. Have they fixed the trunk space? And how many people are going to be using what? (Taurus, PPV, E7, Pursuit)
  2. (((Pπaz∑))) at 5:35pm 25th November 2010 One thing I am not happy with this (If looks matter, which in some cases do to get a better interior shape) is the rear lights, other than that, I hope CHP gets some. Although the Charger have met their match with the 2011 Chevy PPV built over V6 OR V8
    1. J J J at 5:39am 26th November 2010 Only the 6.1 V8 Chevy did better in the preliminary information at the time trials than the Charger V8. By .1 to .5 of a second, and 1 MPH in the speed test, I suspect, that Dodge will make the 6.1 Hemi available next year to take on that challenge. I also hear that some departments just order the civilian version with the 6.1l. The other thing about the Chevy is that it is an import, I wonder how the vehicle is maintainence wise and parts availablity wise. There is no civilian counterpart to make a comparison.
  3. J J J at 9:34am 24th November 2010 There are numerous upfitter companies coming out with just that. In Ramsey New Jersey the entire patrol car is controlled by a voice command computer. Run a plate, talk on the radio, turn lights/sirens on/off by voice command. The Dodge Charger Pursuit is a throwback to the days of the Fury I and all its power. Nothing better to stop a would be runner, than seeing one of those come up your six. I own a 2009 Hemi Pursuit, and the car actually gets better gas mileage than the six cylinder. It all depends on how you drive.

  6. Jim at 1:28pm 5th September 2010 As a very recent retired police officer (1 September 2010). Police vehicles need two major things, up head display and communications that the officer does not need to hold a mike when he/she is running emergency traffic while they are driving. Speed is important to catch a driving violator or going to a call when every second counts. For a person that has never been a police officer you do not understand what a officer is going through as they are driving to a call. The two major things that I have suggested would make the officer a safer driving officer. I suggest for all that have never been on a ride along with a police officer to check with your local or state police and request to do a ride along, I promise it will open your eyes and you may understand why officers drive fast.

  8. Authority Figure at 3:54pm 28th August 2010 Basekid, please never speak when you're uninformed. It highlights your stupidity. The Pentastar engine is 22% more powerful than the current Chrysler V-6 platform.....and 11% more fuel efficient! The Hemi is available to departments that are uncomfortable with trying new engine technology, which makes sense we're talking about a car that must be driven 24 hrs a day, by multiple drivers and will be pushed to its limits every week. Perhaps your time would be better spent installing a "smaller mouth" to increase the efficiency of your V-8 Brain.
  9. X Man at 10:37pm 24th August 2010 Maybe you are a thief yourself and scared that the new persuit vehicles will be able to catch your "tiny engine" car...
  10. basekid at 8:13pm 24th August 2010 I wonder if Chrysler is ever going to understand that big engines are not the future. While I understand that police cars need to be fast, this is just ridiculous.
