Amazon.com Gets Into Groceries

Would you like paper or plastic? Online mega-retailer Amazon.com has started selling groceries on its Web site.

Remember back during the initial dot-com boom, companies like WebVan and HomeGrocer were all the rage, enabling users to fill out grocery orders online and (literally) have the fruits of the earth delivered to their front doors

Ince WebVan bought them out, they went downhill fast. Poor selection, they were never on-time, they had a huge list of problems.

What's funny about this is that they only deliver where UPS or FedEx do which means that most of the food items have to have a long shelf life. I would also worry about the food being smashed in delivery.
