AOL Launches Revamped Video Portal

AOL's relaunched video portal lets users tap into more than 20 million videos from a single site—including content hosted on YouTube.

AOL has unveiled an update to its online video portal with a new design and interface aiming to make it easier for users to tap into more than 20 million Internet videos—even content hosted by YouTube—without having to jump back and forth between sites.

“Online video consumption is likely the fastest growing behavior in the history of the Internet and AOL was one of the first to bring video content to the online masses,” said Fred McIntyre, AOL Video’s senior VP, in a statement. “Consumers want just one place where they can go to find and watch all of the videos they’re looking for and our new AOL Video portal gives them just that: a single website that brings together millions of videos from across the Web.”

The new AOL Video portal offers a redesigned home page which AOL says makes it simpler for users to discover and search for online video, and a new interface for embedded playback makes viewing video from other popular online video sites within the AOL Video portal a more straightforward experience. AOL is also touting its Truveo video search technology, which it says features better search results presentation and lets users more quickly find what they want—it also implements a family filter for a more kid-safe video experience.
