In case you haven’t noticed, the 2012 London Olympics are in full swing. What have you got to show for the international pride? If you’re an iPhone 4 or 4S owner, you’re in luck; Trü Protection is offering to giveaway one of each Spirit of Competition iPhone case away to three lucky readers! It’s a hard plastic case with Olympic-themed designs stylish enough to dress your gadget for the right season. Even when the Olympics is long gone, the Worldview print, which consists of various national flags, makes a wonderful statement about international convergence. Each case also runs for $30, so why not try at your chance to score one for free?
To be considered to win one of three Spirit of Competition iPhone cases, we want to hear an anecdote about your Olympian spirit moment: Tell us an inspirational story of when you felt you were a positive role model in someone’s life.
It could be to your younger siblings, a group of friends who look up to you, or even a stranger you chatted with one day while waiting for the train. By keeping up positive attitude, friendliness, open-mindedness, and listening to those who just need a friend, you could make a difference in someone’s life much like Olympians inspire in the fields. Again, we have three cases to give away so if you can make us cry a little from your story, the better your chances are of swaying me into handing over our precious prize. Contest ends Wednesday, August 8th at 12 a.m. pacific time. Get inspirin’!
I have friends of all shapes & sizes & I’m always telling them how beautiful they are, how they buy the best clothing to suit their body shape & how positive their attitude is. All it takes is a few kind words to boost someone’s confidence & outlook on life. Even to speak to a stranger as you’re walking on the street, in the grocery line, on public transportation, helps to make people feel connected. You’re probably inspired people & you don’t even know it. Keep up the positive attitude & share a few kinds words everyday ‘cos everyone deserves a smile to cover their face. Take care :)
One of my best friends recently told me she had cutting her wrists because of depression and stress in her life. It had been going on for a while, and she just told me because she was afraid that it would hurt me, and it did. We had a long conversation, full of tears and I made sure I was there for her during that tough time. It has really hurt me that my best friend had been in that situation, and hadn’t told me for all this time. I was really a role model for her when someone that found out she was cutting threatened to tell everyone, and I told them to back off. I was like her beacon of hope. Now, she hasn’t done it in months, and I’m proud that I helped her.
My friend plays volleyball. I played volleyball with her almost every week, we used it to cope with her anger, and sadness. Being out there and playing a sport is really beneficial to someones life, and it really helped her out too. So, I guess, all you need are friends and volleyball!
I’ve always been an athlete and sports have played a huge role in my life. I began as a gymnast and progressed to ballet and then to tennis. Each sport showed me a different aspect of life and brought alive different aspects of my personality. 5 years ago, I had an amazing moment with tennis where I was teaching an 12 and under group. My co-worker and I each split the kids up into two kids with us being the lead captains. Each child played a mini match with their opponent and at the very end, my co-worker and I played off. Even though we were just rallying back and forth the kids were in awe. One of the kids came up to me and told me that she hopes that she can have the kind of elegance and grace on the court as I do. I was just speechless. I saw her last week for the first time in 5 years and she’s still playing tennis. She ran up and hugged me and we had a little get-together. She told me that she was inspired by my enthusiasm and positivity towards tennis and from then on she decided that that was how she was going to approach the sport. It was an amazing moment that I will never forget. It just goes to show just how much of an impact you can have on someone’s life just by being yourself.
As a male I’ve never been into sports until the Vancouver 2010 Winter Olympics. Experiencing the crowd, the vibe, and the life in the city changed me. After following the Winter Olympics I got into 2 sports myself. Snowboarding and Hockey. Snowboarding is fun and I now go every year at Grouse and Whistler Mountains. Hockey on the other hand, I fell in love with the sport, I love watching my team play in the NHL. I even started playing as a goalie. The Winter Olympics got me involved into new things and made me proud of my country which is what the Olympics is all about. Stoked for the next Winter Olympics.
This was when I was young. I was always overweight. I was barely 17 and always wished I was someone else. My friends and I then went to the gym and worked out together. we actually got in shape (lost around 25lbs) and decided to bring our grandmothers out and be active. We went to the park in the afternoon and helped them get active. It was really funny at first, yet with patience and the right techniques you can accomplish anything. They became to be extremely healthy and with the best energy. They looked brighter and had a more positive attitude than our parents. We can finally say we accomplished our small project and made our lives and others better…
