Hypocritical seems to be an increasingly recurring word to describe us in the US these days. Not surprising when you look at who seems to be in control of things here - a mix of the religious right and big business. We profess to be free when in reality our everyday freedoms seem to be completely out of our control. The media is no help either. By sensationalizing the "evils" of something like gambling, they create a stigma in the minds of the general public that doesn't always reflect reality or common sense. It is very dangerous formula that seems to go against everything I was taught this country stands for. I can see how we must look from a foreign perspective.
