It was only after those pounds of turkey, mashed potatoes, mac and cheese, apple pies, glazed ham, tree-shaped sugar cookies, and fruit cakes that you realized last year’s most important resolution never got resolved. Never fear: 2013 is a new year and a more appropriate time to get your exercise on – all while looking pretty awesome with this Fitbit Zip in your pocket. The pint-sized pedometer will help you keep track of daily steps and calories burned so you’ll push yourself to get better numbers every day.
You could buy your own Fitbit Zip at $60 retail, or you can attempt to win one for free today (Spoiler alert: Free is always better than $60 out of your wallet). To try your chance at winning my gift to you, share with us your absolute favorite song to workout to, and why. What gets you pumped up at the gym or on the streets? Impress me and this little gadget is yours. The contest ends in just one week on December 18, so let us know in the comments and I will be contacting the winner personally at the end of the giveaway.
Fitbit Zip’s not really your thing? Check back often as we’ll be running DT’s ‘Better Than Socks’ Holiday Giveaways all month long.
UPDATE: The contest has officially closed! A warm thank you for those who shared their responses, and if you did not win, check out our giveaway link above for other active contests.

“It’s the eye of the tiger, it’s the thrill of the fight
Risin’ up to the challenge of our rival
And the last known survivor stalks his prey in the night
And he’s watchin’ us all with the eye of the tiger”
Sorry couldn’t resist.. I’m not competing, Adrian.. oups I mean Natt of course ^_^
I don’t listen to music when I work out. I find that when I listen to an audiobook or an engrossing podcast such as Dan Carlins Hardcore History or WNYC’s Radiolab, the time just flies by and I don’t even realise I have gotten a great workout both physical and mental. I know I am odd in this but hey oddity is the spice of life right…. ha ha or maybe I am just weird.
TOXIC WALTZ by EXODUS
Get up on your feet
Don’t look so obsolete
And thrash like an athlete!
Don’t sit there on your a$$
Don’t look like you got too much class
you’ll be harassed!
You know we guarantee
This is the key
So rage or get the third degree!
You begin frontal assaults
and start your somersaults
And do the toxic waltz!
Lindsey Stirling…violin to upbeat music, no lyrics (or at least not that I’ve discovered yet). It’s completely relaxing yet upbeat enough to keep me going. I get lost in the music and in my run instead of focusing on time or the lyrics.
99 Problems – Jay Z
Frog Machine – Infected Mushroom
fast paced, energetic, with multiple buildups and breakdowns throughout. great for cardio or lifting, especially at 3:45 and on.
Let’s Get It Started The Black Eyed Peas
The Black Eyed Peas – Pump It
I LOVE working out to the Black Eyed Peas is general….but this song totally does it for me–makes me stay at a fast pace!
Donk – Soulja Boy
It makes me wanna booty pop and work that much harder for that donk.
I run, and “Home” by LCD Soundsystem is an absolutely amazing track for running. Song starts fairly slow but once the bass and drums drop, you almost have to hold back so you don’t ruin your workout. It keeps a great beat and makes 7 minutes of running feel like 2. I typically put it at the end of a tracklist because by the time the song ends and your run is over, you’re home. Get it? :-)
black eyes peas reading evryday
It would be Queen – “I WANT IT ALL’
Run Run Away -Slade
My absolute favourite song to workout to is Maroon 5’s, “Moves Like Jagger” featuring Christina Aguilera ‘cos it’s got a good beat and you can dance to it or say workout to it, throw in a few Jagger moves & it’s all good!
My favorite workout song is the Rocky theme song.
Since I watched the movie, it just motivates me every time the song goes on.
Plus who DOESN’T get pumped up to it? haha
Blue Sky – Common
Depending on the day I switch from Joe Esposito’s “You’re The Best Around” and Motley Crüe’s “Kickstart My Heart”

Kyoto by Skrillex
Tubthumping – Chumbawamba
“I get knocked down, but I get up again. You’re never gonna keep me down.”
Tour de France by Kraftwerk.
The song beats like a heart, the lyrics involve heavy exercise-like breathing and it makes me feel like running as if there was no tomorrow. :-)
