Google Checkout to Offer Online Payments

Online titan Google has unveiled Google Checkout, an online payment service which offers fraud protection and integrates with Google advertising. Should PayPal be scared?

After months of industry speculation, Google has finally taken the wraps off Google Checkout, a sort of online wallet which aims to make online shopping easier and more secure for both participating merchants and customers.

Like other online payment services, merchants first have to set themselves up with Google Checkout; once that’s done, shoppers can opt to pay for purchases using Google Checkout on a merchant’s site (Checkout-enabled merchants will also be flagged in Google’s ever-more-ubiquitous AdWords advertising system
