HeartMarth Provides Stress Relief Via PC

The emWave PC Stress Relief System is supposed to help users destress by getting their hearts, brains and nervous systems in sync.

There’s software to keep track of your money, software to organize your schedule, software to perform your work from home, and now – perhaps  as a result of all the rest – there’s software to relieve stress. HeartMath released its emWave PC Stress Relief System on Tuesday, a program designed to cut down on stress and “reset your inner balance,” according to the company.

A small USB finger or ear clip provides information about your heart rate to the software, which it is supposed to use to visualizes your emotions on screen. HeartWave claims the software’s approach to reading into heart rhythm is based on 16 years of research that shows a link between heart rate, emotion, and cognitive performance.

The goal of the software is to get your brain, heart and nervous system to the same state, called “coherence,” which is supposed to help you recover from stressful episodes more rapidly. HeartMath calls the techniques the program uses Quick Coherance, a way to line up all three body functions whenever you need to. There are also three games that test your ability to use the technique.

The emWave PC Stress Relief System is available for $299.99 from the company’s Web site, which includes all the necessary hardware. Of course, if you don’t believe in HeartMath’s research or just don’t have the money for the software, there’s always traditional stress relief for the PC: like Grand Theft Auto, Quake, Hitman…
