Limewire Joins DRM-Free Shopping

The P2P service has opened a store selling DRM-free tracks and subscriptions.

Most people know Limewire as to peer-to-peer file sharing service. But all that is changing. It’s now opened the LimeWire Store – at least in a betaformat – that offers tracks in a DRM-free MP3 format for 99 cents.   US users of the P2P network will find a button next to each track offering them the chance to download the track fromthe Store legitimately.   The company is offering three pre-paid subscription plans, silver, gold and platinum. The platinum offers 75 download credits for $19.99, which works out at 27 centsper track. The gold plan offers 50 downloads for $14.99 and the silver 25 downloads for $9.99.
