NBC Drops YouTube for Hulu

NBC Drops YouTube for Hulu

The upcoming video network will host exclusive content from both NBC and Fox, meaning both companies have had to kill their offerings elsewhere.

YouTube lost a provider of traditional media content on Sunday afternoon when NBC Universal pulled its clips from the site in preparation for the launch of its own site, Hulu.com. Previously, the company had maintained its own channel on YouTube with promotional clips from NBC shows.

Hulu will be a joint venture between NBC and News Corp., which owns Fox. Together they will host clips from shows including Late Night with Conan O’Brien, Family Guy and 24 on the new platform. Fox has already pulled its own shows from the internally owned MySpaceTV to make way for Hulu, which will host exclusive content.

Right now, Hulu only offers a bare-bones glimpse of what’s to come with an option to sign up for updates. According to a post from the site’s CEO in late August, it will enter a closed beta sometime in October.
