Office Depot Offers In-Store Photo Printing

A partnership with Kodak and LifePics will allow Office Depot to offer digital photo prints and personalized items like mouspads and t-shirts via a Web interface, with free in-store pickup.

Joining the slew of pharmacies and other box retailers already offering digital photo prints, Office Depot on Monday announced a new partnership with Kodak and LifePics that will turn the office retailer into a photo shop. By introducing a new online digital photo center, Office Depot will leverage its 1,200 retail locations to bring customers on-demand digital photo prints and other custom-printed items from the Web.

Besides offering standard-size prints and other common formats that many stores handle via automated kiosks, Office Depot will also offer more creative printing options like personalized photo albums, photo calendars, client presentation books, large format printing, and customized cards. All images can be uploaded online, meaning customers only need to make a trip to the store when the prints are done.

Photos prices range from 17 cents on the common 4 x 6 format up to $30 for an enormous 24 x 36 glossy. Most t-shirts will go for $15, while more exotic items like diaper bags and woven tapestry blankets will sell for $150 and $175, respectively.
