From a purely practical viewpoint, there’s really no reason to own an analog watch anymore. They’re harder to read, less accurate, and unless you shell out for a real mechanical timepiece, they aren’t even truly analog. When it comes down to it, even the goofiest $10 sport watch comes with more features than a $10,000 Rolex.

Only one thing keeps the clunky old things clinging to peoples’ wrists: style. Digital watches may outperform analog watches in every utilitarian sense, but when it comes time to don a three-piece suit and head out to a night on the town, circular dials and sweeping hands still reign supreme.

Digital watches have come a long way from the square faces and cheap rubber watchbands of yesterday, and the Reflection LED watch is evidence of a renewed emphasis on design aesthetics for digital timepieces.

Unlike an ordinary digital watch, the Reflection doesn’t let on to its binary guts at first glance. The face of the watch, while rectangular, is actually a polarized mirror. Only when a button on the side of the watch is pressed do the red LED numerals appear beneath, along with an accompanying animation (which can be skipped with a second push). Yet another push brings up the day and month.

The Reflection has no timer, alarms, or other standard digital watch features, so realistically, it’s really only a step away from an analog watch in function. But stylistically, it’s quite a departure from either standard variety watch.

Carrying on the mirror look from the face, the Reflection’s watchband is fashioned from polished stainless steel. In an unusual twist, the watch’s design is actually asymmetric – one side of the face has a slim metal edge and buttons, the other runs flush up against the edge of the watchband.
