Targus Issues Product Recall
Company recalls over 60,000 power inverters because of a potential risk of serious electric shock and potential damage to attached devices.
Targus, a maker of mobile accessories products, yesterday announced a product recall. The 60,000 or so units being recalled are called Slimline Power Inverters and 150 Watt Car/Aeroplane Dual Outlet Inverters.
The inverters potentially pose a risk of serious electric shock and may in certain circumstances damage products connected to the Inverter, which could lead to consequential injury to users. Targus has received no consumer reports or complaints of electric shock or other injury or other property damage involving the product in actual use. The recall involves models BUS008, APV0601US, APV07US, APV08US, which were sold in the United States. Models that were sold in other countries include models APV07CA and PAV08CA (Canada) and APV07EU and APV07UK (Europe). All model numbers of the Inverter are included within the scope of this recall.
Targus said the inverters were manufactred in China and sold through retail outlets and company’s website for approximately $39.99 to $69.99.
