Timex Markets iPod Controller Watch

Timex has rolled out the Ironman iController, which controls an iPod via a radio receiver.

Controllers for the iPod and other portable music devices are nothing new, and they certainly beat having to dig the device out of your pocket, or whereveryou’ve put it, to skip a song you just don’t want to hear.  

But accessories are a huge business these days. Even Timex has jumped on the bandwagon. Whether it really takes a licking and keeps on ticking, but the Timex Ironman iControl watch will control your iPod.

Four buttons on the watch’s face allow you to move forward and back through tracks, and raise and lower the volume, while a fifth button — the most prominent — allows you to alternate playing or pausing a song.

It all works through a radio receiver that goes into the iPod’s dock connector and translates the radio commands from the watch. The watch works the fifth-generation iPods, iPods Nanos, and even the brand-new iPhone in “airplane” mode, i.e. with the cell phone service turned off.

The watch and receiver retails for around $125.
