XM Announces Expanded Lexus Presence

Leading satellite radio provider announces their service will become a standard factory installed option in upcoming Lexus models.

XM Satellite Radio today announced they’ve increased their presence in luxury car maker Lexus vehicles by beginning to offer standard, factory-installed satellite radio in select upcoming models. This builds upon a relationship which XM began with Lexus parent company Toyota in 2004.

As part of its increased presence, said XM, satellite radio will become a standard feature in the new 2007 Lexus LS 460 L as well as the next hybrid 2008 LS 600h L. These two vehicles will also offer XM’s real time traffic service known as XM NavTraffic. This satellite traffic information service displays real-time traffic conditions on a vehicle’s navigation system in covered areas and is powered by NAVTEQ Traffic.

XM also said their satellite radio would be a factory installed feature on the 2007 LS 460 model as part of the navigation option.

“The introduction of XM Satellite Radio and XM NavTraffic as a factory-installed feature on the new generation of Lexus LS sedans represents an important milestone for our company,” said Hugh Panero, President and CEO of XM Satellite Radio, in a statement. “This launch is just the beginning for XM and Toyota as XM will be further integrated into Toyota Motor Sales vehicles.”
