Yahoo To Reimburse Music Buyers

Yahoo will compensate those having difficulty playing music files with Rhapsody MP3 coupons or refunds once its shuts it music portal.

It’s no secret that Yahoo is getting out of the download music business. Back in April it announced it was closing the music store, including subscriptions, and migrating its music over to Rhapsody, owned by Real Networks. The servers will shut on September 30.

But what about all those people having problems playing the MP3 files they bought? Well, the company has come up with a solution – compensation. Yahoo customers experiencing problems playing those tracks can apply to Yahoo’s customer care and receive coupons for the equivalent number of MP3s at Rhapsody – or a refund – until December 31.

On its music site Yahoo stated:

"We believe this plan will provide a fair deal to consumers who have purchased songs through the Yahoo Music Unlimited service, and will assist users in making the transition beyond DRM to more flexible, reliable, and consumer-friendly digital media."
