AOL Launches Mobile Search Services

New services from web portal are geared towards offering mobile phone users web searching, local yellow pages listings and comparison shopping.

AOL yesterday announced they’d launched a suite of new search services geared towards users of mobile phones. These services will allow phone users to search the web, comparison shop for products and access local listings.

Dubbed AOL Mobile Search Services, these new offerings use transcoding and content analysis technologies from InfoGin Ltd. to adjust search results and web pages to fit the browsers of mobile phones, smartphones and PDAs. The Mobile AOL Search lets users search on any word or phrase, allowing users to access any web content and not just WAP-enabled pages. Pinpoint Shopping give users the ability to compare features and prices for millions of products from thousands of online merchants. Mobile AOL Yellow Pages gives users not only the ability to search for local listings, but also gives them ability to place a call to the local business or provide access to a MapQuest map with directions.
