Not every phone has a waterproof case available for it, putting some owners in a pickle if they want to go to the beach or river rafting. This is where Asus comes in with the ZenPouch, which hopes to remove that problem with a colorful pouch.

Made out of nylon and thermoplastic polyurethane (TPU), the ZenPouch carries IPX8 certification. In other words, while the ZenPouch will be just fine in wet environments, you probably should not submerge it beyond 3 meters underwater.

Similar to other waterproof phone pouches, the ZenPouch features a clear front window that gives you access to your phone’s touchscreen. Furthermore, your phone’s camera remains unobstructed while in the pouch, giving you the ability to take pictures or record videos. Other features of the ZenPouch include a slip pocket for any cash or cards you might have, a hand strap, a finger hook, and a detachable shoulder strap. As a result, the ZenPouch is suited for a range of situations, such as hanging it from your shower head or door handle.

According to Asus, the ZenPouch supports phones with displays up to 5.5 inches. Interestingly, the pouch also supports phone dimensions up to 185mm x 90mm x 12mm, giving owners the ability to insert either their Nexus 6P or Samsung Galaxy Note 5 into the pouch, for example.

No, the ZenPouch is not exactly a novel concept, but it is the first waterproof pouch made by a major phone manufacturer, so it has that going for it. Asus did not say when the ZenPouch would be available for purchase, though similar pouches do not run for more than $15. When the pouch becomes available, you will be able to pick from a variety of colors, as long as those colors are either black or yellow.

iPhone 13 and Z Flip 3 keep Apple and Samsung sales strong in U.S. and Europe
Galaxy Z Flip 3 closed with Cover Screen active.

The smartphone markets in the U.S. and Europe are still suffering from a chip shortage, according to a report from Counterpoint Research, with overall sales being slightly lower in Europe and slightly higher in the U.S. than they were last year. In Europe, Samsung, Xiaomi, and Apple led the European smartphone market in Q3 (July, August, and September). Even though Samsung saw a decline from the immediately preceding quarter, the newly launched Galaxy Z Flip 3 helped its fortunes. The U.S. market remains dominated by Apple and Samsung, with Motorola continuing slow and steady growth.

Zooming out to look at the bigger picture, aside from Apple, the usual suspects who make the best Android phones (Samsung, Xiaomi, Oppo) lead the pack in the European market. This was likely with phones like the Galaxy Z Flip 3 and OnePlus 9, along with lower-priced A-Series models, while there are some surprise entrants from the likes of Vivo and Realme. Huawei continues to decline, with the lack of Google services and the limited launch of the P50 continuing to take their toll, while former sub-brand Honor is on the rise. The company just launched the Honor 50 and Honor 50 Pro as its first phones with Google services in years, and it'll be interesting to see how these affect future sales.

Google Pixel 6 pricing looks set to match Apple’s iPhone 13
Google Pixel 6 Image Composite.

The Pixel 6 and Pixel 6 Pro have been officially revealed by Google, but there are still a few unknowns about them. Namely, when will they launch, how much will they cost, and when we'll we be able to buy them and put them in our pockets. A new report today from tech YouTuber Brandon Lee, which is based on information from a European carrier source, sheds some light on pricing, availability, and color names.

The first major bit of information is the pricing. The Pixel 6 is rumored to cost 649 euros and the Pixel 6 Pro 899 euros. This translates to $760 and $1,050, respectively, if we were to do straight conversions to U.S. dollars. But taking into account taxes mean that the Pixels would more likely than not be priced between $699 to $799 and $999 to $1,099, respectively. By comparison, the iPhone 13 and 13 Pro start at $799 and $999, respectively, and the Pixel 5 started at $699.

Do MagSafe cases really keep your iPhone 13 safe? Allstate put them to the test
Main home screen on the iPhone 13 Pro.

If you're looking at getting yourself a new iPhone 13, you've probably been wondering if it's all it's cracked up to be and if Apple's new MagSafe cases really can protect it.

Allstate Protection Plans is back again to find out. After having just recently given the Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 3 its own breakability test, it put the iPhone 13, iPhone 13 Pro, and the MagSafe cases through the wringer.  Unsurprisingly, due to the similar construction and materials of the iPhone 13 to those of the iPhone 12, it performed about the same as its predecessors except in one place -- the iPhone 13 silicone and leather MagSafe cases.
