Best Buy is Offering Motorola Droid Pre-orders

Best Buy is pre-selling the Motorola Droid and offering various promotional services.

Best Buy Mobile, the mobile specialty retail unit of Best Buy Co. announced today it  is offering Droid enthusiasts a chance to pre-order the new Motorola smartphone. Customers who purchase the smartphone at Best Buy Mobile can avoid the hassle of mail-in rebates with instant savings applied at the point of purchase. Best Buy says  the Droid will retail for $199.99 with two-year activation.

“We’re excited to feature this new device for our consumers, as it represents the latest and greatest in mobile technology,” said Best Buy Mobile President Shawn Score. “Bringing the Droid to Best Buy Mobile expands our already unmatched assortment of smartphones allowing customers to compare high-end devices like the iPhone 3GS, HTC Hero and Droid all under one roof. The fact that customers can purchase the phone first at Best Buy through the pre-sell is an added bonus.” bestbuy

In addition, Best Buy Mobile announced in a release it is offering an array of services aimed at improving the mobile phone buying experience, including:

  • An Upgrade Checker: “A quick and easy in-store service that gives customers the ability to see when they are eligible for their next phone upgrade. When the upgrade time is nearing, customers receive a complimentary reminder call or email”
  • The “Walk Out Working”: “Free in-store smartphone setup by a Best Buy Mobile Phone Specialist who will sync personal email accounts, set up Bluetooth headsets, transfer contacts and activate other services to allow the customer to leave the store with a fully functional new smartphone.”

  2. mikael fata at 6:16pm 3rd November 2009 Yes I too have pre order the phone from best buy, but here the catch they dont know whether they will be able to fill the pre orders that they have, i am third on the list, and the woman told me if they only get 2 phones that i would have to wait, they pre order by selling you a gift card with your deposit and when i said well i want it refunded since i thought my chances will be better at my verizon store at 6 am they said they dont give refunds on gift cards, what a rip off. Best buy sucks, i will never do business with them again.
