Doodle Jump, $3.99

Doodle Jump challenges you to get a hop-happy little blob of a character as high as you can on a series of platforms, tilting your phone back and forth to land on the right ones and navigate away from the likes of black holes, aliens and UFOs along the way. It pains us that this 99-cent marvel from the iPhone goes for four times as much on Android, but you’ll probably agree with us that you get your money’s worth after about 59 hours spent reaching for the stratosphere.

Elias at 12:22pm 20th May 2011 Another app I love for my kids is the TV Everywhere app. Now, I only let me kids watch educational stuff, as they are five and three…Electric Company, National Geographic, that kind of thing. As a DISH customer/employee I can use the TV Everywhere app to access any of these shows live or recorded off my receiver from anywhere I get a 3G connection, and I can do it on my phone, iPad/tablet, or laptop. It’s a perfect way to keep the kids when travelling or in a waiting room, that kind of thing. Also, since it’s rare they watch TV it can be used as a treat.
