Purists might balk, but utilizing various apps for your daily commute can not only save you gas and money, but more importantly, time. Give yourself that automotive edge next time you’re haggling on the lot or behind your local Wal-Mart with this handy app from Kelly Blue Book. You can search for specific makes and models, and receive accurate, trusted KBB figures for what your current car is worth. If you’re in the market for a new set of wheels, KBB can help you find local dealerships and will even compare multiple cars side by side.
GasBuddy (Free)
Everyone loves to save money at the pump, which is exactly why GasBuddy is a must-have in your app arsenal. Now you don’t have to waste time circling the streets and wasting precious petrol in the process. Simply load up the app, enter in your zip code, or use your iPhone’s built-in GPS, and you’re treated to a list of gas prices for your surrounding area. You can even search by various grades of fuel, like premium and diesel.
iWrecked (Free)
Let’s face it, accidents happen. And when they do, it’s not always easy to stay calm – and even harder to know exactly what to do while you’re shaken up. That’s where iWrecked comes in. The free app walks you through every detail, from collecting the other driver’s insurance information to jotting down when and where the accident took place. It even reminds you to snap pictures of the incident in case your fender bender buddy tries to weasel their way out of coughing up for repairs.
Repair Pal (Free)
The name says it all. RepairPal lends you a helping hand with keeping your vehicle’s repair history and maintenance accurate and up-to-date. Waze (Free)
When you’re driving, it’s good to know what’s up ahead, which is why Waze has become invaluable part of our daily commutes. On top of being free, Waze alerts you to upcoming police traps, accidents, road hazards, and traffic, all in real-time. There is an automatic re-routing feature that lets you adjust for congestion on the roads. And best of all, Waze offers complete voice-guided navigation, so you can keep your eyes on the road and your hands on the wheel.
Gas Buddy is awesome for road trips, I use it every time. Though I do remember wishing it had a few more features after the last road trip that I went on
