Video provides a glimpse of BlackBerry 10 running on a BlackBerry Z10 smartphone

Blackberry 10 smartphoneNot everyone has to wait until the end of the month to see BlackBerry 10 in action, as Austrian tech blog Telekom-Presse has posted an extensive video test of Research in Motion’s new operating system in use on the BlackBerry Z10. The site notes the hardware is a pre-production prototype and it’s a beta version of the software.

The Z10 has been leaked several times already, but it’s good to get further confirmation of the device’s specifications. The prototype seen in the video has a 4.2-inch touchscreen with a 1280 x 768 pixel resolution, while inside is a 1.5GHz processor with an impressive 2GB of RAM. An 8-megapixel primary camera sits in the corner of the rear panel, and there is a 1.9-megapixel video call lens above the screen. Finally, a microSD card slot lets you add to the standard 16GB of storage memory.

If you watch the video below, you’ll get to see the BlackBerry 10 interface in action again, along with some of the very cool transitions between screens – just take a look at the fade as the lock screen is swiped away. However, unless you speak German, the commentary won’t be all that helpful. By using Google Translate on the accompanying written piece, it’s clear the author is impressed with BlackBerry 10, calling it, “Smooth,” and the camera, “Excellent.”

We had a chance to play with BlackBerry 10 again during CES 2013, and also found the experience vastly improved over previous versions. There’s just over two weeks to go until BlackBerry 10 is launched, and according to recent rumors not only is the application store filling up at a surprisingly fast rate, but the new hardware could be on sale in some places by the end of February.

BlackBerry Key2 LE: Everything you need to know
The BlackBerry Key2 LE is back home at Verizon, but only for business types
BlackBerry Key2 LE Hands On

The BlackBerry Key LE is a lower-cost version of the Key2, doing away with some of the more high-tech features seen on the expensive sister phone, and cutting costs by using different materials for the body, to create a more affordable but still distinctly BlackBerry smartphone.

You can check out our Key2 LE review to learn more about what it's like to live with the phone, but in the meantime, here are all the technical specs, details, and availability options.
Updates
The BlackBerry Key2 LE is available to buy at Verizon, but only to business and enterprise customers, according to reports. Verizon's selling the Key2 LE for $450 without a contract, or for $100 if you sign up for a two-year plan. The phone does not show up on Verizon's non-business store, so there does not seem to be the option to buy the phone for this price without a business plan.

The Moto G Power 5G and Moto G 5G phones in a render.

If you’ve been shopping the best phone deals or are otherwise looking to save on a new phone, we’d like to turn your attention to Motorola. At Motorola right now you can get the Moto G Android phone for just $100. This is essentially an entry-level phone as smartphones go these days, but this savings of $70 from its regular price of $170 makes it a good consideration and one of the best Motorola phone deals you'll find. It’s not everyday you can grab a new phone for just $100, and you can save even more if you have an eligible device to trade-in.

Why you should buy the Motorola Moto G smartphone
You aren’t going to find the Motorola Moto G ranked among the best phones or among the best Android phones, but that doesn’t mean it’s a phone to avoid. And while we aren’t particularly high on the device in our review of the Motorola Moto G, the price point it comes in at with this deal makes it something worth considering if you’re in the market for a new phone. It comes in navy blue with 32GB of internal storage, which isn’t very much as modern smartphones go, but the Moto G does make up for it with some of its other specs and features.
