Reports have aircraft maker Boeing mulling the future of its Connexion in-flight Internet service, considering a sale or shutting down the service entirely.
Remember when in-flight Internet access was all the rage and Boeing rolled out its billion-dollar Connexion service (outside the U.S., anyway) complete with a posturing/branding announcement with Internet portal Yahoo? Then Siemens and Airbus quickly announced they were going to get in on the act, and suddenly captive audiences in the friendly skies were the latest battleground for control of online bandwidth and eyeballs?
Well, things may not have worked out so well. The Wall Street Journal and other outlets are reporting that aircraft maker Boeing is mulling selling or shutting down its Connexion inflight Internet service because it simply hasn’t been able to built a big enough business to justify the resources and expense involved
