Cingular/AT&T Tops Customer Complaints

Consumer Reports is reporting that complaint data obtained by Consumers Union shows AT&T/Cingular has the most customer complaints.

“Complaint data obtained by Consumers Union, publisher of Consumer Reports and ConsumerReports.org, from the Federal Communications Commission show that Cingular and AT&T, which combined last year to form the nation’s largest wireless phone company, have the worst combined complaint record for 2004. AT&T alone has had the worst complaint record two years running.

If you’re considering a change of wireless carrier, you may want to look first to Verizon. It had the lowest number of complaints per customer among national carriers, and among all the carriers, relatively few complaints about service quality and billing. “

  8. Gerald Austin at 12:09pm 10th October 2007 ////for 18 months I have been promised TTY connection on my cell phone and have called at least 30 times just to receive more empty promises by incompetent employees. Recently after purchasing a laptop and ordered at&t wireless 3G which has yet to stay connected. I am deaf, totaly disabled,& homebound. Do not waste your time going to a corporate store because any child has more knowledge of hardware, software, and firmware. Believe me I have been numerous times and wasted alot of minutes on my cell phone. This is fraud of the disabled by big business, maybe next they can cheat the mentally handicapped or even wounded soldiers.
  9. fungku at 10:41pm 18th October 2005 sirisha, Digital Trends isn't a motorola dealer.

I've had a couple bad customer service experiences with Cingular too. Beware before you switch to them. Look online and do some research about their customer support.

  11. fred sarciaux at 7:36pm 18th August 2005 I can understand adt and cingular getting so many complints, here is one more!!
I have been a good customer of adt for many years and had program ith a basic monthly cost of $19.95. Starting a few months back my phone being a old issue started giving me trouble so I went to cingular to buy a new one. I was told that at the $19.95 program rate no phone was available but if I upgraded to the $29.95 program a phone would be available. I don't think that is fair that I should be forced to pay additional payment to get a phone replacement.!!
