The Hiptop is a unique product because it uses special proxy servers (special computers) to speed up delivery of webpages.

“Besides the extremely cool design and beautiful menus there isn’t a whole lot to like about the Hiptop. The ridiculously poor RF performance make it unusable in places where virtually any other phone will do just fine. Further the Hiptop proxy servers were so slow that it might have been faster to load the page without using one. This is just awful since the Web browsing is one of the Hiptop’s main features.”
