The new Droid Incredible 4G LTE may not share a name with the HTC One X, S, or V, but in many ways it’s quite similar, and it is now available on Verizon Wireless for $150 (online) with a two-year contract. We spent some time with the Incredible back in may and really enjoyed using it. Verizon’s black and red color schemes are getting old, but under the hood, the Incredible 4G LTE is about as powerful as the new One X and Galaxy S3, but comes in a smaller 4-inch screen size, which makes it a great pick for those who want power, but don’t feel like hauling around a gigantic phone.
Check out our full hands-on impressions of the Droid Incredible (video too), if you’re interested. The only apparent downside to picking this phone over, say, an HTC One X, is its lack of a dedicated camera imaging processor. The One series phones have some extra power in their cameras that is lacking from the Incredible, but the photography was still quite good in our experience. It might might take some to notice the differences, but the Incredible may not have advanced features like HDR.
For those hankering for some rough specs, this runs on a 1.2GHz dual-core Snapdragon S4 processor, which is also what powers the Galaxy S3 and HTC One X. It also has Android 4.0 and 8GB of internal flash memory for storage with a microSD slot for more memory. The battery doesn’t set records (in size, at least) at 1700mAh, but hopefully the smaller 4-inch 960 x 540 pixel super LCD screen won’t suck up as much juice as other models.
We hope to have a review in the future. Until then, if you’re looking for a good phone, we recommend you give the Incredible a look.
Maybe ICS, the larger battery and price would be a reason that someone would look at this phone over the HTC Rezound. Any 4G phone that can last you at least an entire day is worth looking at. (read Droid Razr Maxx) But Motorola doesnt have quite the polish that the HTC phones have. IMHO. And I have spoken to several Razr owners who say that the phones are glitchy and must be rebooted at least weekly. Let’s hope the Incredible 4G does better.
I’m using the new ICS version of the Razr Maxx and it’s better so far, but yes, the battery life is the #1 reason to own that phone. The Incredible 4G LTE is running a better OS and has a better camera than the Rezound and I “think” it has better battery life, though I haven’t used it enough to know. Beats integration in the Incredible is much better than the Rezound, where you had to use the default HTC Music player to get it. However, the Rezound comes with a nice pair of Beats earbuds. Rezound has a 4.3-inch screen too, so it’s a bit larger.
