EA Spills Its Forthcoming Mobile Game Line
Electronic Arts has revealed its mobile game lineup for late 2005 and early 2006, and it includes entries based on the FIFA Street, Def Jam, and SimCity franchises.
At the CTIA IT Wireless and Entertainment 2005 show in San Francisco today, Electronic Arts today announced its lineup of mobile games for late 2005 and early 2006, and it’s no surprise that the largest video game publisher has quite a few titles up its sleeve.
EA revealed that mobile versions of casual titles Harvest Mania,Word Whomp, World Class Solitaire and Squelchies are coming to mobile phones, along with installments of the company’s soccer-based FIFA Street, hip-hop-combat Def Jam and city-building SimCity franchises.
EA says its goal is to create a broad range of entertainment options for mobile phone users, offering something to both players who are looking for quick minute-by-minute casual entertainment as well as more immersive games appealing to more hard-core gamers. "The growth of mobile entertainment hinges on our ability to deliver meaningful communities and unforgettable experiences. At EA, our focus is to drive the medium forward by bringing our franchises to market in a way that resonates with the unique play patterns of the mobile consumer," said John Batter, VP and General Manager of EA’s "EA Mobile" group.
