HTC just refreshed its One flagship device in an attempt to join the ranks of smartphone legend. It’s not the same do or die moment we experienced with the BlackBerry Z10, but there is still a lot riding on HTC’s latest Android device. The old One and its subsequent spin-offs were great devices in their own way, but weren’t able to grab the same traction that the iPhone 5 and Galaxy S3 have. It does seem like HTC has put a lot of effort into the newest One though, packing it full of neat features like BlinkFeed, which – aside from the horrible name – looks like a great addition to sense. It is basically a built-in Flipboard replacement that pulls information from RSS feeds and social networks. There’s also the new camera, which promises to deliver supreme low-light capabilities and gorgeous photos using only a 4-megapixel sensor. The compulsory software treats are there, but what about the physical specs? Check out how the HTC One holds up against the competition and choose your own winner.

Bottom Line: On paper, the new and improved HTC One certainly matches the specs of its competition, even surpassing both devices in the display department. Stellar specs have never been HTC’s problem, but rather its devices haven’t captured the world’s attention for whatever reason. We also have to keep in mind that the Galaxy S3 and iPhone 5 are both due for a refresh this year and may very well surpass the HTC One in every department. For now though, the HTC One is a fine choice for any Android fans out there. With compelling software features and killer hardware, this looks like HTC’s time to shine.

No SD slot? Who do they think they are…Apple?
OH! You agree only Apple without SD slot?
HTC Phones never have an SD card slot :(
When does a quad-core barely beat out a dual-core?
also, digital trends flubbed the specs. I’ve seen reports of a 13mp camera, not a 4MP. I mean, did anyone not question why that was so low? Think guys, seriously.
Care to show us where you found this 13MP spec? The Ultrapixel technology only really makes sense on a smaller sensor.
actually it definitely a 4mp camera. HTC claims that mega pixels don’t mean anything which is true. We’ll see how good it is when it comes out.
Nice to see some people are paying attention. :-)
I thought it was like 2 or 3 stacked 4mp Sensors or something..
If you’re focusing on only the cores you’re not looking at the big picture. A processor is only as good as the amount of RAM the unit has.
Having more cores doesnt mean its faster, intel’s 4 core processors are faster than AMD’s 8 core processors, it’s all about architecture, I can tell that you are new to this ype of thing, keep talking.
@BJ and if rumors are true you are correct the new s4 could be sporting either a 13 or 14 MP camera( Not HTC) also rumored to be rocking an 8 core CPU but, again these are just rumor’s but, Samsung is a Game Changer!
Let’s see that comparison in a few weeks when Samsung releases the S4 pretty sad it barely beats out a 1 year old device.
I am expecting the S4 to be pretty amazing and I don’t think Samsung is going to dissapoint.
Have you seen the benchmarks for the Snapdragon 600? Literally off the charts. The S4 might even use the same chip. If trends continue, the S4 will be plastic and unappealing like the S3 and isn’t as aesthetic as the One X like the S4 might be to the One.
