Glitch: Screen brightness too dim

Some iOS 8 device owners have complained about a screen brightness glitch. The problem is that the screen on the iPhone or iPad will suddenly dim while they’re using it despite the fact that auto-brightness is turned off.

Potential solutions

  • Try going to Settings > Display & Brightness and toggle Auto-Brightness Now turn it off again, andhold down the Sleep/Wake button and the Home button to restart the iPhone (it should shut down and then you’ll see the Apple logo when it restarts).
  • Go to Settings > Accessibility > Increase Contrast and toggle Reduce White Point to off.
  • If you’re having an issue with the auto-brightness, then go to Settings > Display & Brightness and just turn the brightness up, it should set a new base level.
  • Some people found it improved after turning Zoom off in Settings > Accessibility.
