Jabra BT4010 Adds Ultra-Simple LCD Display

The new headset's LCD shows battery level, connection status and call status with intuitive icons, rather than flashing LED signals.

Slapping an LCD display on a Bluetooth headset may sound like a fairly obvious innovation, but given the glut of such headsets out there, Jabra’s new LCD-equipped BT4010 gets credit for joining a relatively exclusive club. The BT4010’s smart display shows icons for battery level, connection status and call status at a single glance.

Jabra developed the display and an alternative to the old standard of flashing LED signals that can be confusing to interpret, and other LCD styles that require users to scroll through menus to find the information that they want. However, unlike other LCD-equipped headsets like the older Jabra BT800 and competing BlueAnt V12, the LCD won’t handle caller ID, so you’ll still be in the dark about who’s calling unless you check your phone.

Besides the BT4010’s integrated display, it also boasts a relatively low weight of 9.9 grams, e-SCO technology for clearer sound and auto-pairing, and talk time of about 6 hours.

Jabra hasn’t given a firm release date on the BT4010, but it will appear sometime this spring with a $59.99 price tag.
