LG Responds To Battery Recall

LG Electronics issued an official statement regarding Verizon's move to recall certain LG batteries.

The LG Statement reads:

“These counterfeit batteries are not manufactured by LG, but illegally bear the LG trademark and closely resemble actual LG batteries. LG is working closely with government agencies to identify and prosecute all sources of these unlawfully counterfeited batteries.

In a handful of instances, these counterfeit batteries have ruptured while installed in a TM-510 cell phone, frequently when also attached to an unauthorized aftermarket charger. Unlike genuine LG batteries, the counterfeit TM-510 batteries have inadequate or no circuit protection devices to prevent overcharging.”
