Meet the Garmin nuvi

GPS equipment maker touts the nuvi as a travel related device which combines GPS, world travel and language information and a MP3 player.
Those who travel abroad frequently may be interested to take note of Garmin’s latest GPS device known as the nuvi. Announced today, the nuvi combines the functions of a variety of devices into one unit.
The nuvi, Garmin said, the features of a GPS navigator, language translator and travel guide, MP3 player, audio book player, currency and measurement converter, a world clock and digital photo organizer. The language translator and travel guide features are available separately on SD cards which are specific to regions and languages.
Technical features of the nuvi include a 3.5” color touchscreen display, SD card slot, mini-USB jack and headphone output. The GPS antenna houses an external antenna jack and the nuvi’s speaker is mounted within the unit.
"The nuvi represents the pinnacle in integrated consumer electronics for travelers," said Gary Kelley, Garmin’s vice president of marketing. "Users can browse restaurant menus and reviews in the Garmin Travel Guide for a highly-recommended French bistro, and then use the nuvi’s navigation capabilities to find the restaurant. Once they’re seated, they can even use the Garmin Language Guide to order their meal in the native tongue."
