New Survey Shows How Brits Love Mobiles

A new survey shows just how much the UK loves its mobile phones, with 25% of those under 25 classing themselves as addicted.

The British have a reputation for loving their mobiles phones, but a new survey has revealed just how much they depend on them.   Conducted by the London Schoolof Economics and mobile phone retailer Carphone Warehouse, the survey showed fully 25% of respondents under 25 classed themselves as addicted totheir phones, a figure that drops to 20% for those 25-35, and 5% for those over 35.   Carsten Sorensen, one of those behind the survey, told the Guardian, "We asked people to what extent the mobile phone was their most important possession, to what extent they would feel unwanted if they were notcontacted via their mobile for a whole day, and to what extent they feel addicted to their mobile phone." Brits also use the possibilities of the mobile phone to a great extent, the surveyshowed. A large number have used their phones to send pictures of video to the Internet, watched video on their mobiles and used the handset to buy items. Additionally, UK users send more textmessages than any other nation in Europe.   However, in spite of all that, the UK actually had the lowest penetration of European counties included in the survey, at just 1.25 handsets perperson.
