Cingular Wireless and Nokia today announced the availability of the Nokia 6800 messaging phone in Cingular's GSM/GPRS markets.
The Nokia dual-band 850/1900 MHz 6800 messaging phone is designed with data and text messaging users in mind, with flip access to a full back-lit QWERTY keyboard. The mobile phone offers personal e-mail, personal information management (PIM) and rich-sounding polyphonic ringtones.
The Nokia 6800 operates on packet data GPRS networks for data connectivity including retrieval of e-mail from POP3 and IMAP4 servers. Internet Service Provider profiles from Yahoo, SBC and BellSouth.net will come preloaded in the version sold by Cingular, and Cingular customers can add other ISPs that support POP3 or IMAP4 mail servers, such as EarthLink and Internet America.
The Nokia 6800 handset will be available at Cingular Wireless retail stores and authorized dealers for $249.99 USD with a two-year service agreement.
