Nokia E51 Targets Business

Nokia E51 Targets Business

Nokia's new E51 handset targets corporate and business users looking for a slim and elegant mobile email solution.

Finland’s Nokia has announced its new E51 mobile handset, designed to appeal to business and enterprise users looking for reliable mobile messaging and email functionality in a sleek, cost-effective package. The E51 integrates directly with a host of corporate email solutions—including Microsoft Exchange and Nokia’s own Intellisync Wireless Email—and offers streamlined email management and access to attachments. The phone also features a dedicated email key on the front cover, an indicator light for new email, and a preview of the latest message on the home screen to save users’ time when they’re out and about.

“Business users increasingly need one device that they can count on to work productively and which offers them the level of efficiency that brings more freedom and balance to their personal lives,” said Nokia’s senior VP Antti Vasara, in a release. “With the new Nokia E51 device, we are responding to this need with a business smartphone that combines the latest advances in business mobility and a classic, stainless steel design, at a price that makes it perfect for company-wide deployments.”

The E51 is also designed to appeal to business users by integrating with corporate PBX systems through Nokia solutions for Alcatel and Cisco systems. These systems enable features like extension dialing, hold, transfer, and conferencing, and also integrated with corporate IP networks to reduce international calling costs.

Of course, the E51 also has some less stodgy features, like a 2 megapixel camera, an FM tuner, integrated music player, Nokia’s integrated Web browser, and the ability to download a number of productivity and entertainment applications from Yahoo.

Nokia expects to offer the E51 worldwide in the fourth quarter of 2007 for roughly €350 (about $485 USD).
