Nokia's new e50 phone is the smallest of its business-focused E-series line, featuring data, email, and quadband voice capabilities.
Finland’s Nokia has taken the wraps of the E50, the smallest of its E-series line of phones aimed at the business and corporate markets. The quadband GSM phone offers up to 70 MB of built-in memory, a high-resolution 320 by 240 display, microSD card support, and the capability to access corporate and organizational data services using BlackBerry Connect, Visto Mobile, Altexia, and Microsoft ActiveSync. Also on board: the Nokia Team Suite (a collection of built-in business applications) lets users view PowerPoint, Excel, and Word documents, and, of course, the phone supports email, text, voice, and video clips, sending and receiving images, and did we mention the 1.3 megapixel camera?
The E50 also offers infrared, USB, and Bluetooth connectivity (all at the same time!) as well as an integrated HTML browser, support for 3GPP and RealMedia streaming audio and video, the capability to serve as a modem in conjunction with a laptop or another computer, an integrated MP3/AAC music players. And a possible clincher for some organizations: optional PBX support via Avaya one-X Mobile Edition, enabling organizations to combine fixed-line and mobile phones.
Availability and pricing will vary by operator and region, and the E-series isn’t aimed at general consumers anyway: Nokia wants to sell these to corporations by the pallete-full. Still, nice to know what the boss might make you use next week
