O2 Gets Interactive Mobile Comedy

British mobile operator debuts a mobile interactive comedy show.

  New times mean new ideas. We have content for computer, and content for mobiles. But mobile operator O2 is taking a step into the future by introducing an interactive comedy show for mobiles, according to a report on vnunet.com.   The show, the first of its type in the UK, is titled If An Alien Came To Earth and stars Virgin Radio presenter Christian O’Connell and several actors, who make up a panel (this panel style of comedy is popular in Britain). The premise is how best to present the planet to an alien – a bizarre, humorous creature with polka-dot oven gloves for hands.   And the interactive part? That will be a forum, where watchers can discuss topics raised and suggest others. Developed with USP Content, each show will last two minutes and can also be viewed at the O2 site.   It might be a small step for man and, well, a fairly small step for mankind, but it does represent an attempt to expand the style of mobile content.   "This project highlights the increasing need for bespoke made-for-mobile content and If An Alien Came To Earth is a superb example of what we can achieve on the small screen," Dominic Smales, managing director at USP Content, told vnunet.com.
